Wedding Planning for the Working Class Bride
Everyone (especially us females) dream of having a wedding that will be successful and everything we'd hope it will be. We start building this dream right from the first time we watched Cinderella, all through high school, college till the day we are proposed to. But as the day transforms from being a "someday" to an actual date on the calendar, we soon realise that "birthing" dreams can really be tough.

An even tougher thing is fitting your wedding planning activities between your work schedules (can be really difficult). Below are some tips that can help you ensure that all aspects of your life are running smoothly during the wedding planning period.

Treat the planning as a Project

Treat your wedding planning as a project. Get a planning notebook or simply a calendar where you can record when different task/activities should be performed and by whom. Keep track of these tasks and watch out for time delays. Take your notebook to work with you, so you may jot down any ideas that may come to you during the day and whom can perform the task. List and prioritize the various wedding elements based on our checklist. Figure out what is more important to you. Is it the reception, or your wedding gown? Is a platinum ring a must have? Also, determine those tasks you must handle yourself. For those tasks that you need not do yourself, you can assign to your reliable family members or friend. People will always ask, ‘what can we do for you? Yes, give them something to do for you. Finally, If you have Microsoft project at home, please use it! Treating the wedding preparation as a project, this ensures that all aspects are covered.

Maximise your free time

Maximise your lunch breaks. Make those phone calls during your lunch break. Use the email when possible to minimize phone costs. Use our Directory Listing to locate wedding services vendors in your locality. Use the internet and our wedding mall section to gets ideas for your wedding event. You can quickly visit your caterer or décor professional during your break or on your way home from work. Let people around you know that you are making preparation for your wedding; hence you will not get assigned extra duties that take up your spare time. While commuting to and from work, you can take out your planning notebook and update it.

Is it all getting to you?

If you are feel there is too much to do, you might require more help. Get that cousin of yours who is on break from the university, or your best friend who runs her own business to take some load off you. Can you afford a wedding planner within your budget? If so get one!

Remember, to take it easy too, there is life after the wedding event. Your marriage to someone you love is far more important than the wedding event no matter how glamorous it may turn out to be!
